Sarah J. Schendel

Sarah Schendel is the firm’s immigration associate, and is committed to defending the rights of immigrants and their families. She is proud to represent clients in immigration court proceedings, as well as at residency and citizenship interviews before USCIS.

Prior to working at Masferrer & Associates, she was the sole immigration attorney at the Center for NonProfit Legal Services (Oregon), where she represented families and individuals in immigration petitions including residency, citizenship, U Visa, VAWA, and consular processing.

During law school, Sarah worked as a legal intern with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Office of the Federal Defenders in Puerto Rico, and completed Domestic Violence and Criminal Defense Clinics. She received her BA in Anthropology from Bard College (New York), and her JD from Northeastern University School of Law, where she was a Public Interest Law Scholar, the school’s largest and most competitive scholarship.

Prior to attending law school, Sarah completed a year of service with AmeriCorps, and was a legal assistant at Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York, where she worked with prisoners in maximum-security prisons to advocate for appropriate medical and mental health care.

Sarah is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and in the First Circuit Court of Appeals. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Boston Bar Association, and the Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar Association. She is proud to help all families pursue their lives together here in the United States.
